Metzger Family Restaurants To Open Jackson Tavern In Fall

August 4, 2014
By Adam Lehrman

Metzger Family Restaurants, parent company to Poppy Kitchen, Gio Taco, the now closed Jax Kitchen, and up until recently, The Abbey, will launch Jackson Tavern this fall.

The New England inspired restaurant will open in the former Red Sky Cafe location inside Plaza Palomino just across the parking lot from Vero Amore. Expect classic tavern fare from Chef Virigina ‘Ginny’ Wooters along with modern classic twists that Metzger Family Restaurant have come to be known for.

The restaurant will also feature an outdoor ice cream station, called JT Shack, which will serve scoops of Thrifty Ice Cream. Around the corner from the ice cream shack will be a large, tree-shaded grassy area with picnic tables and chairs.

In keeping with tradition Jackson Tavern will be named after Metzger’s son Jackson, who couldn’t have been to happy to lose his first namesake restaurant, Jax Kitchen.

Metzger is designing the space alongside architect Burak Bekat of a23 Studios, and general contractor Garrett Cunningham of G&J Development.
