Tavolino San Diego Sister Restaurant, Isola Nabs Best Pizza Award

In case you haven’t noticed, we really like pizza.

One Tucson restaurant that serves up some pretty authentic and extraordinary pie tends to get little love for their pizza. It’s simple really – technically, Tavolino Ristorante Italiano is an Italian restaurant that also serves pizza. Well known for exemplary Italian dishes, such as their fresh pastas, Ossobucco, and Fileto di Maiale, the pizza tends to take a back seat to the fancier fare.

In 2012, Tavolino’s Massimo Tenino opened up Isola Pizza Bar in San Diego’s Little Italy. Just this week, rock station 101KGB announced that listeners crowned Isola Best Pizza in San Diego for 2014. Not bad for only being open two years.

Before you dishearteningly proclaim defeat due to the long drive to Isola, hop on over to Tavolino. It’s the same pizza and Tavolino has long been a Tucson Foodie favorite.

Check out their pizza selection:

  • Burrata e Pomodorini – Burrata, cherry tomato, oregano, basil
  • Salamino Piccante – Spicy Italian salame, fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, parmigiano
  • Prosciutto – Prosciutto, panna, mozzarella, arugula, truffle oil
  • Pecorino, Patate, e Funghi – Spicy pecorino, mushrooms, potatoes, rosemary

And, before we forget – congratulations to Massimo!

Tavolino Ristorante Italiano is located at 2890 E. Skyline Drive. For more information, visit Tavolino on the web at http://www.tavolinoristorante.com or keep up with them on Facebook.
