The Pima County Public Library’s Seed Library, along with Native Seeds / SEARCH, was recently featured on an episode of “Food Forward”. The show is a new PBS series that, in their own words, “opens the door into a new world of possibility, where pioneers and visionaries are creating viable alternatives to the pressing social and environmental impacts of our industrial food system.”

The 24 minute “Seeds of Change” episode, which you can watch below, features the Seed Library at roughly the 14:52 minute mark. Although the entire episode is worth watching, you might want to skip ahead if your daytime internet distraction threshold only allows for multiple short bursts.

And, if you didn’t know that the Pima County Public Library offers seeds at no charge, here’s what they have to say about it.

From the library’s Seed Library web page:

The seeds you borrow from the Seed Library of Pima County Public Library are lent to you at no financial cost, and they are priceless.

A commitment to growing plants from seeds is a gift to yourself. And the seeds you save and return are a gift to your community. We hope you learn much, experience the joy of gardening, and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

At harvest time, please take some extra steps to save seeds for others. We ask that a portion of the seeds you save from the strongest, tastiest, and most vigorous plants be returned to the Seed Library to keep the library self-sustaining.
