Local Pizzeria Owner Finalist In Slow Food Cocktail Competition

It’s always exciting when a local business gets national press.

This time it’s for the owner of a restaurant in Hereford called Pizzeria Mimosa.

But, this national press has nothing to do with their pizza. Owner Vicki Gilbert has been named as one of 12 finalists in the 2014 Slow Food Speakeasy: Ark of Taste Cocktail Competition for her drink, The Holy Mole. All cocktails entered in the competition – and there were over 100 of them – were required to use at least one ingredient from Slow Food’s Ark of Taste. This “living catalog” contains over 1,100 “delicious and distinctive” ingredients that face extinction. In Vicki’s case it was the Chiltepin Pepper.

You can check out her drink on the 2014 Slow Food Speakeasy: Ark of Taste Cocktail Competition page. It’s the fourth one down on the right.

As a finalist, she needs our vote, which can be cast on the ballot page for the 2014 Slow Food Speakeasy: Ark of Taste Cocktail Competition daily until June 22nd.
