Tucsonans loves the Greek Festival. Maybe it’s the break from the usual Sonoran cuisine or the smoky aroma of gyro meat wafting from the grills. Regardless, Tucsonans flock to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church every fall for their Mediterranean fix.
Resurrected last year after a hiatus, the 2015 Tucson Greek Festival will take place September 24 through 27 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church at 1145 East Fort Lowell Road. Now in its 39th year, the four-day festival features a range of traditional Greek dishes, from flaky, buttery favorites to savory, spiced classics.
In addition to the mouth-watering array of eats, the festival will also include Greek music groups and the award-winning Panathenian Dancers.
Continue getting into the spirit at home with purchases from The Greek Market, offering pastries and breads, cheeses, hummus, olives, phyllo dough, honey, Greek Spices, candy, and jewelry, as well as a cookbook created by the women of St. Demetrious Church.
General admission is $3 per person per day, with free admission for children under 12 and active duty military with ID. Seniors over 60 get free admission on Saturday from 4-6pm. Four-day passes are available at $5 per person.
