There are plenty of food specials to be found in and around Tucson. Sure, many of them can be discovered at the national fast-food restaurant that always seems to have lines of cars wrapped around the building, but go on and break away from that crowd.
Try something local instead — local doesn’t mean it’s expensive.
This is especially true during the summer, it’s vital to support local businesses as the owners and employees sweat out the season’s torrid weather. Comin’ in hot, though, is Transplant Pizza’s new specials.
Currently, the Detroit-style pizza joint at 4605 E. Speedway Blvd. has a few deals that oughta pair nicely with craft beer and classic video games, both of which can be found next door at Craft, A Modern Drinkery. They’ve even made it more convenient by allowing you to order food at the bar.
The lunch specials, which were announced earlier this week, are happening from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Monday – Friday.
First up, the pizza. There’s a lot to like about the mammoth pies because of the super thick crust and the mountain of toppings (depending on how you order it, that is).
Oh, and there’s more than just pizza found at Transplant.
Have you ever taken a trip through its sandwich menu? A couple of highlights include the Horseradish Poblano Roast Beef, topped with caramelized onion jack cheese, a sauteed poblano and onion mix, avocado, tomatoes, and horseradish sauce, and the White BBQ, a sandwich filled with rotisserie chicken, pepper jack cheese, red onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, and a white barbecue dressing.
Transplant Pizza, which is one of the newest concepts from the Serial Grillers team, will be celebrating its one-year anniversary this summer, so stop by and give them a big “congrats” — whether it be a returning visit or a first-time chow down session.
“This concept is a nod to Detroit-style pizza but has a familiar twist from our other restaurants,” said Travis Miller, co-owner. “We like to refer to the restaurant as ‘Born in Tucson, Inspired by Detroit.'”
