It’s about to get loud at the Music Box Lounge!

The dive bar that’s been serving Tucsonans since the early 1960s is still rockin’ and rollin’ to the beat of the city’s changes. In recent years, a couple of the owners of Arizona Beer House near Broadway and Kolb Road purchased the Music Box — it’s gone through some minor restorations with updated seating, new neon lights, and a brand-new mural on the outer wall by local artist Danny Martin.

On Friday, June 28, Music Box Lounge is hosting a FREE Rock ‘n’ Roll Extravaganza featuring three live bands and some of the best tacos in town from 520 Taco Stop. The music starts at 8 p.m.!

The food truck, which can be found at the corner of North Houghton Road and East Speedway Boulevard Thursday – Sunday, will be set up out in front of the bar beginning at 7 p.m.

Plus, the bands feature members from the local food scene! Rock on, Tucson!

Meet the Bands

Headlining the show is Tucson’s Sherbet & Champagne, which features Terry Kyte (owner of Bisbee Breakfast Club and Ombre Coffee), Toby Kyte (owner of Bashful Bandit Barbecue), and Anthony “Rocco” DiGrazia (Rocco’s Little Chicago). Sherbet & Champagne brings a lot of energy!

Sandwiched in the middle of the show’s lineup is Alligators in the Sewer, featuring Matt Sterner of the Tucson Foodie crew. The two-piece band is loud and brings some heavier surfy vibes to the show.

Then, to kick things off, is the local band ISOLATYRS. The trio prides themselves on being a “loud and weird” band and that’s exactly what you’ll get when the show kicks off at 8 p.m. (give or take a few minutes).

As mentioned earlier, come early to get some grub from 520 Taco Stop! They’ll be serving from 7 p.m. until later in the evening.

The Music Box also hosts Happy Hour, an Unhappy Hour from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. on Wednesdays, DJ nights, karaoke, emo nights, and loads of other events like industry nights and deals for local budtenders.
