Historic restaurant makes changes to keep up with downtown's growth

As downtown Tucson continues to grow at a rapid pace, the family-owned Cushing Street Bar & Restaurant temporarily shut its doors for renovations.

The restaurant has been serving Tucsonans in its circa-1860 adobe building since the 1970s, but is now making a few upgrades in anticipation of the new additions coming to the area.

Across the street, a hotel is currently in the works, as well as other new businesses and residential buildings being built nearby.

It’s unsure what the new changes will be, and there’s no set reopening date. Their voicemail recording states that the restaurant looks forward “to serving you again in 2019.”

Cushing Street Bar & Restaurant is located at 198 W. Cushing St. The restaurant’s website appears to be under construction, too, but you can keep up with Cushing Street Bar & Restaurant on Facebook.
