Jackson Bar + Eatery, 8864 E. Tanque Verde Rd., is scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on March 16.

The elegant dining room with dark oak tables will seat 104. The bar area separated by a wall will seat 60 and feature seven televisions.

“It can be a nice sit-down, upscale experience or you can just get a beer and watch a game with your buddies and not be out of place,” said Izaak Morhaim, executive chef of Jackson. “It’ll be versatile.”

Beverage options will run deep with 20 beers on tap, 10 wines by the glass, and 18 wines by the bottle.

Jackson’s menu will feature American comfort food with both approachable and high-end dishes. It may also pick up some Latin influence through Morhaim, who has a background from the kitchens of Lodge on the Desert, Red’s Smokehouse + Tap Room, Jax Kitchen, and Acacia.

One signature dish will be the black truffle burger, featuring a nine-ounce patty with 2% black truffles by weight. Toppings are still being finalized, but the burger may end up featuring goat cheese and rocket or arugula.

Frites will also be a star, blanched and soaked in duck fat for 24 hours before hopping into the deep fryer. It will be served with sides of béarnaise sauce and brown gravy for decadent dipping.

Dishes on the more comforting end of the spectrum include linguine with Italian sausage ragu and meatloaf glazed with Barrio Brewing Company Mocha Java Stout.

One dessert item will be cheesecake with a sloe gin reduction. Rotating ice cream flavors from HUB Ice Cream Factory will also be available.

Brunch will be available Sunday mornings until 2 p.m. Morhaim is looking forward to whipping up special dishes such as his Barrio Benedict, featuring a green chile and Barrio Blonde cornbread, chorizo cooked with Barrio Rojo, and ancho hollandaise.

Operating hours are expected to be 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Sunday hours haven’t been finalized.

“We may extend weekend hours to midnight for industry people,” Morhaim said.
