‘Caps & Corks’ Beer, Wine & Bottle Shop to Open in Marana

‘Caps & Corks’ Beer, Wine & Bottle Shop to Open in Marana

Feb 26, 20182 min read

Marana will soon receive its own beer, wine, and bottle shop in early summer 2018: Caps & Corks.

Bisbee natives and husband-and-wife duo Ty and Elyse Hammett are two of the four-person team who own and operate Caps & Corks. Ty’s brother and sister-in-law, Tad and Dulce Hammett, relocated from Bisbee nine months ago to help.

“We live in that direction,” said Ty, a long-time beer enthusiast and home brewer. “We considered Rita Ranch. We looked for a place that wouldn’t intrude on other similar establishments. We felt that area needed it.”

The 2,000-square-foot shop at 3830 W. River Rd., Ste 100 will feature 25 beer taps and 6-8 wine taps. A six-door cooler will hold a selection of approximately 300 beers for on or off-premise consumption.

If that description reminds you of Tap & Bottle, it should — Tap & Bottle Downtown is also 2,ooo square feet. Additionally, Ty has been receiving tips from Tap & Bottle owners Scott and Rebecca Safford.

“Any information we didn’t already have on-hand, they were super excited and happy to share,” Ty said. “They were open books with us. You can tell they care about the Tucson community even though we’re obviously direct competition. It’s refreshing to talk to someone who cares about the community like we do.”

Don’t expect Caps & Corks to be a Tap & Bottle knock-off, though. The business will features its own aesthetic and creative differences.

The space will feature a rustic industrial warehouse feel with high ceilings and abundant use of wood and metal. The bar will also feature a couple of tablets dedicated to Uber Eats so customers can order food delivery. A rotating food truck schedule is also in the works.

“We plan on doing the weekly events you’ve come to expect from beer places, such as beer yoga, to help be part of the community,” Elyse said. Ty also plans to host game tournaments with a classic Nintendo Entertainment System.

While a Caps & Corks collaboration beer might be available as soon as the grand opening, Ty is considering plans for expansion to include a brewery as well.

Lastly, Ty plans on offering a bottle delivery service for Tucson. Customers will be able to view inventory online and pick up in store or pay for delivery.

Caps & Corks is located at 3830 W. River Rd., Ste 100. For more information, visit capsandcorksaz.com. Keep up with Caps & Corks on Facebook.
