New seasonal additions have landed on menu at North Italia

Oct 26, 20211 min read

The weather is coolin’ off but that doesn’t mean the local flavors are.

With the chilly season comes a new Fall/Winter menu at North Italia, which is serving up brand new dishes along with several ingredient updates to familiar signature items.

One of the new plates is the Spicy Breakfast Pizza alla Vodka, which is made with a vodka sauce base, smoked mozzarella, provolone, cipollini onions, Italian sausage, and pancetta.

Also, it’s topped with a couple of eggs with a drizzle of Calabrian chili oil, torn basil, fennel pollen, and pecorino Romano cheese — proving that pizza is great for any meal of the day.

Another dish that’s itchin’ to light up your taste buds is the Spicy Rigatoni.

It’s Rigatoni tossed in vodka sauce with burro fuso, crumbled Italian sausage, and pancetta, which is then finished with basil, grana Padano, and extra virgin olive oil.

Other Menu highlights include:
  • Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast – Grilled ciabatta bread layered with avocado, smoked salmon, arugula, torn basil, and watermelon radish. Topped with red onion, a drizzle of lemon vinaigrette, caper relish, freshly grated horseradish, espelette powder, and pine nuts.
  • Beef Tenderloin and Eggs – Beef tenderloin topped with bearnaise sauce and accompanied by crispy hash with piquillo peppers, cipollini onions, Calabrian bomba sauce, grilled bread, and two eggs served sunny side up.

If you’re curious about the other additions, check out their Tucson location’s full menu.

North Italia is located at 2995 E. Skyline Dr. For reservations, call (520) 299-1600. For more information, visit northitaliarestaurant.com

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.

“Opening this place feels a little surreal. To now have a space where we can bring together coffee, food, art, booze, and all the weird things we love feels like a reflection of how far we’ve come.” —Tyler Melo
