Get ready for an epic meal that’s more than 6,000 miles in the making.

Maynards Market & Kitchen has partnered with The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and The Magellan Circle and Slow Foods to host the Italy Meets AZ Dinner from 6 – 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 10. 

For this one of a kind six-course dinner, chef Simona Fabrizio will travel from Orvieto, Italy to join executive chef Brian Smith in the kitchen.

In the week leading up to the dinner, Fabrizio will familiarize herself with the Sonoran products that are available here in the southwest. She’ll also immerse herself with the likes of Barrio Bread, Native Seeds/SEARCH, Mission Garden, and Desert Museum to see firsthand why Tucson was named a UNESCO City of Gastronomy.

From there, the two will create the menu together, showcasing local ingredients in their delicious Italian cuisine.

Tickets are $135 a person and the menu will be revealed the evening of the dinner.

This dinner event is a part of Maynards’ new Guest Chef Series, which celebrates the traditions and heritage of culturally diverse food and the sustainable practices to preserve by inviting guest chefs to taste, work with, and experience the food from the Sonoran region. The guest chef then works with Smith to prepare a dining experience that showcases the similarities and differences found between their region and the Sonoran region.
