Lessons in becoming the sharpest one in the kitchen.

(GMT-07:00)

Here’s your chance to become the most efficient and effective in the kitchen.

In order to sharpen your skills, The Garden Kitchen is throwing a hands-on knife skills cooking class from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 12.

The class is going to teach you some of the basic knife skills and also practice more fundamental cuts — like a mince, dice, brunoise, bâtonnet, and julienne.  You’ll even get some practice in cutting large food items like a head of cabbage, herbs, and onions.

Aside from all of the slicing and dicing, you’ll walk away with an idea of how to maintain and keep your knives sharp, along with shopping tips for cost-effective produce purchasing.

Each seat in the class is $55 per person and includes a light Mexican-style lunch and ingredients to take home for dinner.

If you can’t make it out to this hands-on class, there are two more in the planner on Saturday, February 9 and Saturday, March 9.

The Garden Kitchen is located at 2205 S. Fourth Ave. For more information on the class, call (520) 621-0476 or visit thegardenkitchen.org.
