Every Jack-o-Lantern must eventually meet its maker.
The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona wants you to smash your Halloween pumpkins at Las Milpitas Community Farm from 1 – 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 2.
You won’t be able to use a baseball bat to obliterate your creatively carved pumpkin, but you’ll have the option to destroy it with a mallet, a slingshot, or in a log crusher.
The family-friendly event is totally free and you’re contributing to a great cause. The composted pumpkins will be put to good use by Las Milpitas Community Farm, nourishing free plots to grow vegetables and fruit.

With all smashing aside, there’s also going to be live music, fun recipes to collect, cooking demos featuring pumpkin as the main ingredient, and grub from local food trucks.
Las Milpitas Farm is located at 2405 S. Cottonwood Ln. For more information, visit communityfoodbank.org.
