This event is about to turn it up a notch — the heat, that is.
The United States Bartenders’ Guild (USBG) is teaming up with Crooked Tooth Brewing Company for a Memorial Day Michelada Competition from 3 – 5 p.m. on Monday, May 31.
USBG is pumped about the competition for many reasons, but the one that stands out the most is that it’s a celebration of hospitality in Tucson.
The Michelada competition is destined to be packed with some heat as the 10 local bartenders incorporate local ingredients into their concoctions — all of which will contain Crooked Tooth’s brew as the base.
Each of their crafty creations will be given to a judge’s panel in addition to the samples given out to those attending. The judges will decide on their favorite gulp and keep in mind that your vote matters, too, since each of the bartenders has the chance to win the “People’s Choice” award.
One of the unique parts about the event is that all of the competitors have 20 minutes to shop around the mini farmers market for ingredients and to actually make the cocktail. Plus, they’ll have an additional 10 minutes to batch.
The entry fee is $10 for non-USBG members, which comes with 10 Michelada samples.
Also, don’t forget, there’s going to be a mini farmers market posted up at the downtown brewery, so be prepared to splurge on the local items that aren’t always available.
