4/20 in Tucson: A list of dope events, munchies & deals

Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, here are a few specials and events to attend with your best buds on Thursday, April 20.

High in the Desert at the MSA Annex

267 S. Avenida del Convento

Tucson’s first open-consumption cannabis festival, High In The Desertsparks up on Thursday, April 20 at the MSA Annex outdoor concert grounds. The big festival is a collaboration between three local producers: Bl_nk MediaTucson Doobie, and Tucson Foodie.

High In The Desert will feature local and regional reggae and hip-hop artists, a cannabis expo and marketplace featuring local growers and cannabis industry brands, and delicious food (of course) from local Tucson restaurants and food trucks — all in one place. It’s going to be an ultimate lineup of food trucks, vendors, and a VIP food experience by Chef Riley Chandler.

More 4/20 Events

4/20 Party at Cheba Hut

446 N. Campbell Ave. #2

All kinds of fun is happening at Cheba Hut this year. They’ll have live music by local bands Autotelic, Class Acts, and Angelfood. Additionally, D2/Downtown Dispensaries, Grass Roots Pharms, Sprinkle THC, and Hippie Chicks are joining the fun as vendors.

Oh, and the food. They’ll have their usual deal: $4.20 for a Nug size sandwich served on a frisbee.

They’ll also have a raffle, goodie bags for the first 50 customers, and other deals at the bar.

4/20 Kickback at Harambe Cafe & Social Cafe

6464 E. Tanque Verde Rd. #150

This hangout is happening all day so go hang out with the crew to celebrate the holiday. Medicated and local vendors will be set up throughout the day. It’s free to get in but there is a one-drink minimum.

4/20 with Dillinger Brewing & The Blacktop Grill

Dillinger Brewing Company and The Blacktop Grill, which is conveniently parked on the patio at the brewery, are having a bash on Thursday — one that involved Walking Tacos. They’re named that because, well, you can walk, eat, and not spill since they’re being safely held inside a Dorito’s bag.

They’ll also have green slushies and beer pong at the all-day party.

4/20 Extravaganza with Mr. Heads & The Drunken Chicken

513 N. Fourth Ave.

This event will be happenin’ at Mr. Heads and will feature 4/20 giveaways, glass blowing, a local pop-up clothing sale, ’90s hip-hop music, and food and drinks, of course. Be sure to order something to munch on from The Drunken Chicken while hanging out at the event.

Desert Flowers 420 Event at The Rock

136 N. Park Ave.

At 8 p.m., Coluted Records and Honeycomb Collective present Desert Flowers, which features live music from local DJs, food, merchandise, and plenty of drinks at the bar.

420 Burger at Donut Bar/Thunder Bacon Burger Co.

33 N. Sixth Ave.

It’d be blasphemous to not eat the 420 Burger at some point during the day. This chorizo burger consists of double bacon, cream cheese, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, and Thunder Sauce. Plus, there’s plenty of doughnuts and beer to guzzle down to make it an all-around munchies marathon.

‘420 Taco’ food truck at ‘The Backyard’

890 W. Grant Rd.

The food truck with the slogan “We Smoke Everything” will be parked at the new outdoor food rally, The Backyard. All of 420 Taco’s types of meat are smoked “low and slow” before it creates a perfect union with the tortilla, and if a taco isn’t what your cravings are calling for, they’ve got sandwiches and quesadillas, too.

Sonoran Cannabis Expo

127 W. Fifth St., Whistle Stop Depot • 311 E. Congress St., Hotel Congress

Brought to you by Earth’s Healing and the Tucson Weekly, the event will feature some of Southern Arizona’s finest dispensaries, growers, suppliers, activists, and entertainers for an afternoon and evening celebration centered around the local Cannabis industry.

The event is happening at two different locations so grab something to eat and drink at Hotel Congress once the party migrates over there.

Tucson Metal Society 4/20 Party at House of Bards

4915 E. Speedway Blvd.

This is event is free for Tucson Metal Society Members and $10 at the door for nonmembers. They’ll have a collection of vendors, games, prizes, giveaways, and a full bar. Plus, live music from Theocide, Like A Villan, ILL V, Purge The Heretics(From CO.), Prince Willie, Kenopsia, and Johnny Arson.

Kicking off the event at 4:20 p.m. will be the short film “The Quarter Lb Blunt.”
