Restaurant of the Week: Ghini’s French Caffe

July 3, 2024
By Matt Sterner

Each week, we want to highlight one of our favorite restaurants in Tucson!

Situated on the corner of Prince Road and Campbell Avenue, Ghini’s French Caffe has been a beacon of resilience since it opened its doors in 1992.

Owned and operated by Chef Coralie Satta (also known as Chef Ghini), the cafe continues to showcase her dedication to her culinary heritage. For example, many of the dishes on the menu are recipes from Satta’s grandmother — bringing a touch of France to Tucson. Also, Ghini’s French Caffe is a certified business by the Tucson City of Gastronomy (TCoG), a non-profit organization celebrating the city’s culinary scene.

Ghini’s made-from-scratch menu doesn’t stop there and spills over into La Baguette Bakery, which is located right next to the dining room — just follow your nose and you’ll find it.

The restaurant has been around for more than 30 years now (its 32nd birthday is on Tuesday, July 16), and Chef Ghini still keeps the menu fresh with summer bites and monthly specials.

New Summer Menu

At the end of June, Ghini’s launched a menu offering lighter bites for less than $10!

The budget-friendly menu includes a handful of salads like the Basil Pesto Pasta Salad, soups, French toast, “Brunchy Stuff” like Biscuits & Gravy, and a “Nice Buns” section filled with handhelds like the Brioche Breakfast Sandwich — two farm eggs scrambled with herbs and creamy cheddar cheese, topped with grilled tomato, French thyme, and melted cheddar cheese on a grilled French baguette.

Monthly Specials

Every month at Ghini’s French Caffe, you’ll discover a variety of special items! While some months feature more additions than others, there’s always something new to enjoy.

July’s monthly specials include:

  • Red, White, and Blue Burger – Juicy Angus burger topped with confit tomato, balsamic grilled onions, and a garlicky blue cheese sauce with cracked pepper aioli on grilled La Baguette rolls
  • Summer BBQ Mesquite Chicken Sandwich – Grilled chicken breast with mesquite smoked bacon, fresh tomato, onion, and melted cheddar served on a La Baguette roll, drizzled with barbecue sauce
  • Red, White, and Blue Crepes or French Toast – Strawberry sauce and blueberry sauce alternately drizzled with fresh berries, whipped cream, and powdered sugar
