In the historic 5 Points neighborhood, Rosebud Bakery is quickly becoming a popular destination for its artisanal baked goods and belly-warming coffee at 844 S. Sixth Ave.
The location has only been open since July, too, but the bakery has been around longer than that.
Actually, the first time I had the opportunity to taste their baked goods and blurt out a Joey Lawrence-esque “Whoa!” was at Slow Body Beer Co. One of the bartenders shared a Rosebud Bakery Rice Krispies Treat with me — it’s easily one of the best Rice Krispies Treats I’ve ever had.
Founded by sisters Harper and Haley Hall, Rosebud Bakery is inspired by the traditions of their grandmother, Leona, whose roots trace back to Rosebud County, Montana.
The bakery’s name honors Leona’s upbringing and the sisters’ desire to bring a sense of community and slow enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures to Tucson. Harper, previously a winemaker on California’s Central Coast, returned to the Old Pueblo to start this new venture with Haley, blending their love for baking and commitment to quality.
Rosebud Bakery began in 2020 as a home-based business, where the sisters honed their craft and built a local following.
Fast forward to today, and they have a brick-and-mortar location in the historic Flash TV building. It’s been renovated and transformed into a cozy bakery with indoor seating perfect for leisurely mornings and afternoon breaks.
The menu at Rosebud Bakery comes complete with handmade treats, sourdough bread, and pastries — all crafted with locally sourced ingredients and heritage grains.
There are also dairy-free and vegan options available.
“The vegan Blueberry Coconut Pecan Crumb Muffin is so fluffy and light, packed with juicy blueberries,” said Hannah Hernandez, AKA @deathfreefoodie and co-mastermind behind the Vegan Night Market. “The textures are perfect! The matcha with oat milk was also very nice and not too sweet.”
The bakery’s full coffee bar showcases a variety of brews from both local and national roasters.
Rosebud Bakery is not just about great food and coffee — it’s about fostering a sense of community and sustainability. The sisters encourage customers to visit the bakery by bike or public transit, promoting a more eco-friendly lifestyle. This sense of sustainability is also reflected in their business practices.
Next time you’re wandering around 5 Points Market & Restaurant or the recently opened Casa Madre and Forbes Meat Co. at The Baffter, poke your head inside Rosebud Bakery. It isn’t just a place to grab a bite — it’s a space where the essence of family, tradition, and community converge.
The bakery’s summer hours are currently open 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Thursday – Sunday (closed Monday – Wednesday).
