In 2017, Sand-Reckoner Vineyards‘ tasting room opened at 510 N. Seventh Ave. #170, bringing new label releases, wine releases, and wine-themed events to the outskirts of downtown Tucson.

However, on Thursday, August 8, the team announced that the tasting room is closing by the end of August.

“This has been a tough decision, and we are so very grateful for the many joyous memories made there the last seven years,” they shared. “We will be having a garage sale and other surprises as we get closer to the 31st — please stay tuned for details.”

From now until the end of the month, the tasting room will be open on Saturdays only from 2 – 6 p.m.

“We are transitioning to an online retail model for the fall and winter, so you’ll still be able to order your favorite Sand-Reckoner wines for delivery and shipping.”

Shipping will resume when the weather cools in the late fall, and Wine Club members will receive their regular winter shipment in November.

“We’d love to see you the next few Saturdays, and would adore it if you could tag us in your favorite tasting room memories — we’ll share them throughout the month.”

Sand-Reckoner is co-owned by Sarah Fox and Rob Hammelman.

The vineyard is known for its small-batch wines made from grapes grown on their estate vineyard as well as sourced from select sites within Arizona. Sand-Reckoner’s wines have received praise for their complexity and the way they capture the essence of the region’s unique soil and climate.

Stop by the tasting room soon (before September 1), wish them well, and continue to support the regional winery — whether it be via online orders or sipping on their wine found at other local businesses.
