Over on the corner of Tucson Boulevard and Sixth Street, Bob Dobb’s is a perfect neighborhood bar for folks living in or near the historic Sam Hughes neighborhood.
The restaurant at 2501 E Sixth St. has been dishing out brews, cocktails, and bar food since the early ’80s, becoming a popular spot for game day. It’s a nifty combo of a headquarters for University of Arizona fans and Chicago sports followers with walls decked with Wildcats memorabilia and Chicago Bulls, Bears, and Cubs collectibles.
It’s a place for party animals.
It’s also a place to grab impressive sandwiches.
The menu has changed over the years but a sandwich you should consider checking out soon is The Big Fat Randy. It’s an Italian sub sandwich with turkey, capicola, salami, and mozzarella, topped with a hefty amount of Romaine lettuce and a housemade Bruschetta mix.
It has flavor, it has spice, and it’ll make you feel nice even when your favorite team, the San Diego Padres, is losing terribly to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2024 NLDS. Sure, that example was a little close to home for me but you catch my drift.
Also, pay attention to the whiteboard on the west side of the bar — you’ll find deals on drinks and food depending on the day of the week.
The sports bar is open from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – midnight on Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 a.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Sunday (hours are always subject to change).
