Le Macaron Celebrates 1 Year of French Goodies in Downtown Tucson

By Matt Sterner

Last year, Le Macaron French Pastries brought “a taste of Paris to the Tucson food scene” and created a cafe where everyone feels welcome to relax and enjoy.

The shop was opened by the local franchisee, Happy Cookie LLC, and is owned by the Haggart family — Stacy, Gary, and their five kids. With a selection of treats including macarons, European gelato, espresso, croissants, fine chocolates, and other pastries, it quickly became a go-to spot for downtowners looking for something sweet.

Now, it’s time to party and celebrate the shop’s first anniversary! Time flies when you have a sugar rush and the Haggarts are throwing a multi-day party for its first full year at 260 E. Congress St.

“We are excited to announce a full nine days of celebration,” said Stacy. “We will have live music, balloons, a local pop-up, and of course… mariachi. Also, some great specials to really bring some smiles to our amazing customers!”

From Saturday, November 23 to Sunday, December 1, Le Macaron will be hosting the following specials:

  • $1 Coffee and $1 Croissants (one per customer, per day while supplies last)
  • Gift Card Special: $5 off $50 and $10 off $100
  • Taste of Paris Sampler for $10
  • Free Tote Bag with regular purchase of 24 or 36 macarons
  • 24-count Sampler Box of each macaron flavor for $55

Also, they’ll be hosting events throughout the nine-day anniversary celebration including the following:

  • Saturday, November 23
    • A Forever Vibe Permanent Jewelry workshop from 5 – 8 p.m.
    • Paul Opocensky Project performs from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 30
    • Mariachi Nueva Luna performs from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
    • Feliz & Special Musical Guest perform 8 – 10 p.m.

Neat tidbit: Mariachi Nueva Luna performs the first Friday of every month at Le Macaron from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

“They are a local youth mariachi band with over 15 members and these kids are awesome,” Stacy added. “We love our Tucson community and we love to have fun and support these kids!”

If you haven’t had a chance to visit Le Macaron yet, the shop has a menu of classic macaron flavors like vanilla, chocolate, and pistachio. Plus, they often serve some fun and funky flavors like basil white chocolate, rose, tiramisu, and bubble gum.

“Every macaron we serve is made by our French-trained chefs using gluten-free ingredients,” said Gary. “We use authentic French recipes with top-quality ingredients, like real Madagascar vanilla beans and Belgian chocolate, to produce a superior product that doesn’t disappoint.”
