May 16, 2025
By Matt Sterner

Nowadays, there is a holiday for everything. May 20 happens to be NASCAR Day, National Pick Strawberries Day, and heck, it’s even Cher’s birthday. Do you believe in life after love? It’s a tricky thing to consider, but we’ve got something else you can set your focus on instead.

In Tucson, we’re celebrating 520 Day (you know, because it’s our area code), and here are some fun events happening this year on Tuesday, May 20.

311 E. Congress St.

The bands Get A Grip, War Prison, Final Stance, Maldita Gente, Del Mal, and Thamju & Far Out will be tearing up the Congress stage beginning at 5:30 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.). 1220 Bakery will be set up as one of the vendors, so stop by and buy something sweet.

Tickets are $15, and the show is all ages.

  • Spiked Slush Release – two flavors with the option to dress it up with candy, locally made chamoy rim, and tamarind straw
  • Special 520 IPA Infusion

Multiple Locations

Guests will be taken on a tour through historic landmarks in downtown Tucson. The guide will discuss the origin of Tucson’s name, the history of the “Z Mansion,” the story of the Presidio San Agustín, and Tucson’s first maternity ward.

Heads up: these tours fill up/sell out quickly!

Additionally, guests will learn about and/or visit the following sites:

  • Historic Pima County Courthouse
  • Pioneer Hotel
  • Ronstadt Center
  • Hotel Congress
  • Tucson Historic Train Depot
  • Murals throughout the city
  • Rialto Theater
  • The Presidio San Agustín

You’d think there’d be more 520 Day-branded events going on, right?

It’s okay — you don’t need a specific event to celebrate the almighty Old Pueblo. Head over to our Guides page to explore new restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc. Simply supporting a local business on 520 Day is special.

Love Tucson food? So do we. That’s why our stories are free to read — and focused on the chefs, farmers, and restaurants that make Tucson so delicious.
