Late last year, Virginia Roy and Wendy Roberts wanted to make a “Baskin-Robbins for dogs” and the two of them did just that.
Cones for Bones has been open for a few months at 6121 E. Broadway Blvd. #138, and it’s been nothing but smiles and wagging tails. Now, they’re starting to see returning four-legged friends, and with that comes brand-new flavors.
“I am offering new flavors in excitement for the warmer weather coming — offering mango and pumpkin flavors,” said Roy. “I try to come up with new flavors to keep it exciting for the dear repeat customers.”
It’s not just ice cream either, which is sugar-free and lactose-free.
Tucson’s Dogs-n-Donuts has been supplying treats since Cones For Bones’ grand opening, but now the team is making their very own housemade baked goods, too.
“Along with the baked goods from our one supplier, Dogs-n-Donuts, I have been baking my heart out with pumpkin and peanut butter flavored cupcakes and birthday cakes,” said Roy. “Made fresh every week!”
In addition to ice cream treats and baked goods, Cones For Bones sells dog toys and swag for your pet, and has set aside a dedicated space for hosting doggy birthday parties, ensuring every furry friend has a tail-wagging celebration to remember.
Plus, and most importantly, they’re giving back to the Pima Animal Care Center (PACC).
“We now not only support PACC with monthly gives, but have also begun a ‘rescue of the month,'” said Roy. “We collect donations and give food that’s been collected for these dogs in need. But it doesn’t stop there. With that spirit of gratitude and giving, I also match the donations collected for the ‘rescue of the month.'”
As of late, they’ve been signing up for events to promote adoption and they give away adoption goodie bags to set up new parents for “spoiling their newest family member.”
“We want to help as many dogs while we spoil the ones that stole our hearts. The more we sell, the more we can give,” Roy added. “And having a cozy environment for dog parents to enjoy some special time is such a pleasure.”
