If you’re a farmers market junkie, you likely lament the colder months when your favorite market shuts down or changes hours to accommodate the weather. Lament no more.
Tucson’s first permanent farmers market pavilion opens this Sunday, November 23 at 10am.
Heirloom’s focus over the last decade has been supporting locally owned and operated fresh food businesses, increasing public involvement, and supporting community health and wellness. To celebrate their latest step in this direction, the event will feature a full farmers market, live music and remarks by Heirloom Farmers Markets co-executive directors Manish Shah and Roxanne Garcia, along with Pima County supervisor Sharon Bronson. Heirloom estimates that about 2,000 visitors will turn out to shop 80+ of Southern Arizona’s finest local food vendors.
The pavilion is a joint endeavor between Heirloom Farmers Markets and Pima County, designed to showcase the best that Southern Arizona has to offer and support the local food economy.
The pavilion is conveniently located in the southeast corner of Rillito Park, just off The Loop path, and measures the length of a city block.
“It’s over 600 feet of flavor,” commented Heirloom co-executive director, Manish Shah. “You will taste the best of the best of local food.”
