It’s always fun to take a trip down Memory Lane and dig through old photos of way-back-when. Then you can turn it up a notch and make it even more satisfying by sharing the photos with others on “Throwback Thursdays.”
The same goes for reminiscing about local dishes from the past. I mean, older TV shows and films are being rebooted all of the time, so why can’t the same happen on menus at some of our favorite restaurants?
One place, in particular, is doing exactly that.
Beginning on Thursday, August 4, Cup Café inside the historic Hotel Congress will be featuring a weekly “throwback dish.” Perhaps the best part about it all is that they want your input. That’s right, the crew wishes to know which dish you’d like to see make a comeback.
So, what’ll it be? The Heartbreaker? Would you like to see the return of the Thompson Automatics (shredded chicken marinated in Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce, wrapped in an egg roll with gorgonzola and then deep-fried) back on the menu? Or maybe it’s about time the Pesto Pasta got a reboot?
Either way, head over to hotelcongress.com to make a submission.
For the first Throwback Thursday dish, they’re serving up the Picacho Nachos, which is multiple layers of corn tortillas, baked with bean dip, Jack cheese, and chile con queso. It’s then topped with peppers, onions, tomatoes, and cilantro.
Don’t forget that this one’s only available on Thursday, August 4 so scurry on down there before it goes back into the vault.
Cup Café can be found at Hotel Congress located at 311 E. Congress St. To request a Throwback Thursday dish, visit hotelcongress.com.
