It’s been five years now since Fourth Avenue bar hoppers received their first glimpse of chicken and waffles after the sun goes down.
“Going into this endeavor five years ago, neither myself nor my business partner or chefs had nearly the restaurant experience we probably needed,” said Ben Sattler, co-owner of The Drunken Chicken. “We’ve definitely gained a lifetime of experience.”
The chicken joint first started flappin’ its wings in 2017 at 429 N. Fourth Ave.
Business has been good, but like many restaurants, it’s been an interesting past couple of years on the Avenue.
“Honestly, the past two years have been extremely difficult for everyone, not just ourselves, but we are ecstatic to have made it to this point,” said Sattler. “Who knows what the future holds, but I think the restaurant and our staff are ready.”
On Friday, August 19, The Drunken Chicken is celebrating its anniversary with a handful of $5 specials. This includes a few items on the menu (yet to be announced), a $5 “secret menu,” and $5 beers.
Aside from beer, the restaurant offers cocktails as well. However, there’s more than one way to celebrate the anniversary with them. Grab a seat over at Mr. Head’s on Fourth Avenue, which is the sister business, and they’ll hand-deliver your food.
Plus, if you don’t feel like leaving the nest — some call it fleeing the coop — and would rather stay home, the restaurant has its own app you can download from the Google Play and Apple App Store. Get your munchies delivered, why don’t ya?
