The publication VegNews recently released its “23 Best Vegan Mexican Food Spots Across the U.S.” and Tucson’s beloved Tumerico made it in the top 10 of recognized restaurants.

The vegan spot is actually the only Arizona restaurant that made it onto the meat-free list. Tumerico, which got its start as a pop-up at the Heirloom Farmers Markets, has been feeding vegans, vegetarians, and even folks that love eating meat for a few years now.

Since its existence, Tumerico has blossomed into two brick-and-mortar locations and a sister location, La Chaiteria, and has even been showcased on Guy Fieri’sDiner, Drive-ins, and Dives.”

The website, VegNews, had a few things in mind when curating the list and specifically sought out restaurants that serve up “decadent dishes” and pride themselves on being plant-based Mexican food.

Here’s what they had to say about Tumerico:

“This vegan-friendly eatery in sunny Arizona puts a focus on healthy, new-age Mexican cuisine with dishes such as squash blossom tacos, quinoa tamales, and Azteca enchiladas. The wide variety of drinks on the menu (including a CBD latte) also have local customers flocking in.”

Wendy Garcia, owner and chef of Tumerico, is always changing and adding new items to the menu, but VegNews listed the Butternut Squash Tostadas as a “must-order” dish. The addition of fresh salsa and cabbage on the dish really ruffled their truffles.

Tumerico is located at 2526 E. Sixth St. and 402 E. Fourth St. La Chaiteria is located at 1002 W. Congress St. For more information, visit tumerico.com and lachaiteria.com.
