Since moving into the current location at 5340 E. Broadway Blvd., owners Nicole van Winden and chef Marcus van Winden have taken The Dutch’s menus to new levels. Hosting more “Chef’s Table” events, serving multi-course tasting menus, and amping up its Happy Hour selection are in full-effect but let’s shine a bright light on the all-day breakfast and daily brunch menu.

Born and raised in Holland, chef Marcus, who was taught by European Master Chefs in culinary school, has been having fun putting his own twist on classic fare, freshly baked pastries (daily), and European specialties.

“Our brunch menu, like dinner, features our play on Modern European cuisine with a local twist,” said Nicole van Winden of The Dutch. “We are excited to offer fun dishes such as Duck a L’orange Tacos, which chef Marcus often says are his favorite dish, to our Elote Avocado Toast, which brings the traditional street food favorite to a great brunch dish, to our newest addition of Frybread Beignets.”

As if that doesn’t already tickle your fancy, The Dutch also makes fresh watermelon juice daily — perfect by itself or in the Watermelon Agua Fresca Mimosa. Nicole suggests the Desert Sunrise Mimosa, which consists of prickly pear syrup, if you’re bringing any out-of-towners to the restaurant.

It’s also one of the best times of year to invite folks to The Dutch. The sun isn’t frying eggs on the sidewalks just yet and the restaurant’s patio is easily one of the nicest in town.

“We have a large shaded patio with misters and a great play area for kids,” said Nicole. “So, if you want to bring the kids along, the adults can enjoy brunch and cocktails while the kids play Connect 4 or cornhole.”

Adults are welcome to play, too, and most importantly, indulge in their daily brunch menu. Below are some of the highlights but you can view the full menu online.
