Volunteers are also needed for the Summer.

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona is expanding its food distribution services in Tucson in order to meet the growing demand for emergency food assistance.

Beginning in July, the Country Club location will offer extended hours on Thursday afternoons until 6 p.m., providing an additional five hours of food distribution each week. Additionally, the Food Bank will open its doors on the fourth Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. – noon, ensuring access to food support for those in need.

“We are working hard to make food available to people at different times of the day,” said Malea Chavez, CEO of the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. “We know that high gas and food prices, along with a growing housing crisis, make for tighter budgets for people working to meet their families’ needs.”

Volunteers are needed to help staff the additional hours. All of those who are interested in signing up for a shift can visit volunteer.communityfoodbank.org

Thursdays are the busiest day of the week at the Food Bank’s Tucson pantry at 3003 S. Country Club Rd. More than 300 people were served in the Food Bank’s first Saturday morning hours offered last month.
