Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers to Open its First Tucson Location

September 22, 2023
By Matt Sterner

The restaurant that got its start in Scottsdale in 2011, Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers, is opening its very first Tucson location at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 25. The “neighborhood burger joint” has moved in near the corner of Ina and Oracle Road at 7315 N. Oracle Rd., which is right up against the fairly new Snooze and across the street from Tap & Bottle North, Fentonelli’s Pizzeria & Bar, and Truland Burgers (to name a few).

To date, this is Cold Beer & Cheeseburger’s 16th location and the new spot spans 5,000 square feet indoors, with a 3,000-square-foot patio big enough to hold 150 people — overlooking the Santa Catalina Mountains, too.

“We are eager to introduce the community to our quality food and renowned casual, comfortable ambiance,” said S. Barrett Rinzler, Founder and CEO of Square One Concepts, the restaurant group behind Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers. “The generously designed interior and expansive patio area will provide a relaxed setting for guests to discover our incredible food and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere we’ve been known for since we began.”

If you’ve been to any of the other locations in Arizona, you’ll find familiarities at the new location. On the inside, Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers has a string of leather booths, 55 TVs, a boomin’ sound system, and an indoor bar that’s accessible from the outside, too. If you’re fancying an outdoor experience, they have an outdoor turf area with yard games such as foosball, cornhole, giant Jenga, and more.

Bites to Get Things Started

They have a handful of starters, too, like the Big Azz Nachos with black beans, roasted pepper cheese sauce, pico de gallo, jalapeño, sour cream, and guacamole. The hot wings or Buffalo Chicken Tot Chos, a heaping plate of tater tots topped with shredded buffalo chicken, green onion, bleu cheese crumble, and a drizzle of homemade ranch, will keep you company while your eyes are locked on one of the restaurant’s 55 TVs.

There’s also something called Cheeseburger Fries. This mound consists of seasoned ground chuck, roasted pepper cheese sauce, sugar-cured bacon bits, and cheddar cheese.

Burgers Galore

Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers has a grip of burgers on the menu (of course) and prepares ’em in a scratch kitchen — “half-pound burgers, hand-formed, made-to-order from fresh, never-frozen ground chuck.”

Besides the original All American Burger, other popular varieties include the Open Pit â€” cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese, sugar-cured bacon, an onion ring, and barbecue sauce — and the Rocky Point with pepper jack cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeño, sour cream.

There’s an ooey gooey handheld named the Mmmac & Cheeseburger, which is an everyday menu item but it’s also featured as a Monday special that comes with unlimited toppings.

Other items such as the Phoenix Philly sandwich with prime rib or chicken, jalapeño, grilled bell peppers, and caramelized onions or the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich will have you ordering another beer in no time.

Hot Diggity Dogs

The cheeseburger joint also has Stadium Char Dogs on the menu. Varieties include The Cincinnati (beef chili, onions, and shredded cheddar), The Deep South (mustard, coleslaw, and shredded cheddar), The Chili MMMac (beef chili and Mmmac & Cheese on top), the Chicago Dog, and The Standard with the traditional ketchup, mustard, and relish.

Other Dishes

Hey, there are a few lighter dishes to check out, too. For example, a few salads are on the menu like the Asian Chicken Salad with cilantro, carrots, tortilla strips, peanut sauce, green onion, and a honey-lime vinaigrette. They also have macaroni and cheese bowls on hand like the Buddha’s Delight (chicken, cheese, and toasted bread crumbs), and the younger ones have a few options on the Kids Menu like a corn dog, chicken tenders, sliders, and more.
