As of right now, Yoshimatsu Japanese Eatery at 2741 N. Campbell Ave. is closed, but it’s only temporary because owner Yoshimi Tashima has something new up her sleeve. On Monday, October 23, the brand-new concept was announced: Maru Plus.
So, fans of Yoshimatsu don’t need to worry — it’s only a rebranding of the restaurant. The team behind the Japanese eatery, which opened up 22 years ago, shared the following on social media:
“I appreciate all your support. Our new restaurant ‘Maru Plus’ will open Wednesday, November 1. We hope to see you at Maru Plus — former Yoshimatsu location.”
The menu has yet to be revealed but we’re told that the new concept will serve a variety of “trendy onigiri, noodles, sushi, and more. One thing is for sure though and it’s that the dining now has a snazzy mural of Godzilla eating ramen.
If the name Maru Plus sounds familiar, Yoshimatsu actually has a sister restaurant at 1370 N. Silverbell Rd. #180 named Maru Japanese Noodle Shop. This location opened up back in 2019 and serves a selection of ramen, donburi, onigiri, tempura, and other Japanese appetizers. Perhaps we’ll see similar dishes at Maru Plus.
Stay tuned for more details on the menu and the expected Grand Opening date is Wednesday, November 1.
