Eegee’s Makes Big Announcement by Dropping a Watermelon From the Sky

By Matt Sterner

The watermelon flavor at Eegee’s seems to ignite something in people — Food & Wine magazine has even mentioned it in the past. It’s a monthly flavor that gets released once a year in July and then sometimes makes its debut sooner. For example, in 2018, Eegee’s promised to bust it out earlier if they got enough retweets.

This year, they dropped a watermelon out of an airplane.

They made a mess for a couple of “record-breaking” reasons. First, it’s the unofficial world record for the highest watermelon drop. The previous record was 167 feet so they flew up to 200 feet and dropped the large melon.

Secondly, the splat signifies the official “Flavor of the Summer.”

The watermelon Eegee is going to be around all summer long starting on Thursday, May 23.

“With the help of Nobel Air from Marana, we unofficially broke the world record for the highest watermelon drop,” Eegee’s shared. “So yes, we now have the world record for the watermelon drop! We can’t wait for May 23rd, it’s a record-breaking drop.”

So, the watermelon Eegee reigns supreme this summer alongside the local fast-food chain’s other new “everyday flavor” — the mango Eegee. Mango was announced just a couple of months ago, adding it to the other “everyday flavors,” strawberry, lemon, and piña.

Recap: Watermelon is back on Thursday, May 23 and will be around all summer (end date is TBD).
