‘Stormin’ of the Sazerac’ Returns to The Parish (September 24 – 27)

"Crushing traditions and breakin' barriers!"

Each year in September, The Parish at 6453 N. Oracle Rd. has paid tribute to the women of New Orleans and their legendary influence by celebrating the “Stormin’ of the Sazerac.”

It’s the 75th anniversary of the historic event, too!

In 1949, women were not allowed to enjoy cocktails in the same bar as men. Thirsty for a delicious cocktail, several women stormed the famous Sazerac Bar in New Orleans. It was such a legendary day because it was the fall of a 100-year-old tradition of only men being allowed to drink inside that bar.

The Parish will pay tribute to Stormin’ of the Sazerac Tuesday, September 24 – Friday, September 27 with $10 Sazeracs and extended Happy Hour until close for all ladies.

“Demanding equality and a stiff drink, these women crushed the 100-year-old tradition of only men being admitted to the Sazerac Bar,” The Parish shared. “A great gender barrier was broken and the Sazerac Bar became the first bar in New Orleans to allow women on days other than Mardi Gras.”

The north-side restaurant has been around for more than a decade now.

The Parish’s bar menu is always on point with seasonal menus and easily pairable bar bites. Speaking of the bar, the bartop was recently refinished — it’s so shiny you can see your reflection.

Also, you’re in for a treat if you’ve never eaten at The Parish, or even if it’s been a while since you’ve stopped by. Jambalaya, shrimp and grits, Southern fried chicken, hushpuppies, po’boy sandwiches, and more!

The restaurant is closed on Monday but open 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Tuesday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday – Saturday, and 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Sunday.

The Parish is located at 6453 N Oracle Rd. For more information, visit theparishtucson.com.
