It’s the season of giving and the folks responsible for Bear Canyon Pizza are doing just that — they’ve opened a brand-new location near the corner of Broadway Boulevard and Camino Seco.

Over the weekend, Bear Canyon Pizza hosted a soft opening at 8838 E. Broadway Blvd., which is the former Wings Over Broadway space.

The new spot is open daily from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. (they’ll be closed Christmas and Christmas Eve).

The kitchen is serving the same menu found at the original location, 8987 E. Tanque Verde Rd. #335. So, expect your favorites like The Baja pizza — a pie topped with chorizo, black olives, cilantro, green chili, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, and finished with a cilantro crema.

However, the new restaurant has a larger kitchen, providing an opportunity to expand the menu in the future. On that topic, there’s a new cocktail menu to try!

“We’ve built a nice little full-service cocktail bar in this space and are lovingly calling it The Bearcat,” said Devin Santos, co-owner of both Bear Canyon Pizza and The Gardens at Bear Canyon. “We have fun cocktails and a somewhat sophisticated specialty menu, including a Banana Bread Old Fashioned.”

After a poppin’ soft opening weekend, the biggest hit so far has been the Violet Flyer, a vodka and Violet-based drink with butterfly pea flowers. “We are doing infusions and making all syrups from scratch, sticking with The Gardens theme of keeping ingredients fresh and non-artificial,” Devin added.

Additionally, they have 30 beer taps, a selection of wine, kombucha, and pressed coffee (also on tap).

The new Bear Canyon Pizza location is technically their second location — Devin’s husband, Austin, opened 1702 Craft Beer and Pizza before that. 1702 closed a couple of years ago but Devin and Austin have really hit a homerun with Bear Canyon and The Gardens.

“I think we have something really special going on with the community that has come from Bear Canyon Pizza,” said Devin. “Being a family-centered space has a allowed us to watch countless families grow, sponsor little league teams, and host multi-generational gatherings. We have employees that have been coming in since they were young enough to enjoy the kids area. We have a lot of love for the community that supports us and love giving back to them, which is why we built The Gardens. We needed to create a space where everyone could go during the COVID shutdown, instead of tailgating in the parking lot. Outdoor restaurant and bar for the win!”

As mentioned earlier, the new restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. but will be closed on Christmas and Christmas Eve.
