Downtown Tucson is about to get a new spot for crispy, comforting Japanese flavors. Katsu House is set to open soon inside Brick Box Brewery, bringing a new dining option to the craft beer hub.
The team is planning for a soft opening on Tuesday, April 15.
The brand-new concept is owner Raphael De La Cuesta’s “culinary love letter to Japan.”
They specialize in onigiri, Japanese hambagu steak, sandos, and katsudon, which is a seasoned rice bowl with your choice of protein (pork, chicken thigh, portobello mushroom, or steak), egg, and caramelized onions topped with green onions.
For those seeking a handheld, there’s a great selection of Japenese-inspired sandos on the menu, too, served on milk bread: Japanese egg salad, pork katsu, pork curry katsu, chicken katsu, chicken curry katsu, steak, portobello mushroom katsu, and fruit and cream.
Everything on the menu will be available for delivery, pickup, and inside Brick Box Brewery’s taproom at 220 E. Broadway Blvd. (right next to Cartel Roasting Co. and Lumbre Pizza A La Leña).
In the taproom, you’ll find Katsu House QR codes hanging out on top of each table — scan it, place your order, and the kind folks at Katsu House will bring out your meal.
“We plan on having monthly wagyu specials and even special reservation dinners,” De La Cuesta added.
For to-go orders, you’ll want to go to the side gate around the corner from Cartel to pick up your food. Plus, you can also order there if you don’t plan on dining in.
The soft opening is on Tuesday, April 15, and the regular hours of operation will be 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Tuesday – Saturday (subject to change).
In the meantime, pop your head in Brick Box Brewery and support a business that’s giving back to the food and beverage community in more ways than one. Plus, their made-in-house root beer is top-notch.
