Just Kabab opened quietly on February 14, 2019, in a La Cañada strip mall just west of Goyita’s. Since then, it has become a local go-to for kebabs, Persian stews, and Turkish coffee.
Chef and owner Arash Foroozan, half Persian and half Filipino, brings global perspective to the kitchen. After time in Dubai and a background in engineering, he followed his culinary passion to open Just Kabab.
Among the roughly 15 skewers on the menu, Lamb Afrique stands out. The skewer comes coated in a potent West African spice rub, grilled to order, and served with care.
The meat arrives juicy, charred, and full of vibrant flavor. It rests atop saffron rice, with a grilled tomato and pickled vegetables adding brightness and contrast.
Want variety? The dish also comes in beef and chicken versions.
Although kebabs take center stage, the menu covers a broad range. Persian stews like Fesenjan, Ghorme Sabzi, and Gheyme deliver deep comfort and slow-cooked richness.
Start with Dolmeh — grape leaves with sweet-tart filling — or Kashk-e-bademjoon, a spiced eggplant dip topped with yogurt curd. Pair either with warm bread.
Inside, red chairs and wooden booths set a casual tone. Behind the counter, diners can watch Foroozan baste and rotate each kebab by hand at the open grill station.
The process takes time. Each skewer is grilled fresh, so bring patience and a strong appetite.
For dessert, go classic with Baklava or try something more unique like Kanafeh, cheese between crispy noodle layers, drizzled with syrup and topped with crushed pistachios.
Pair dessert with a strong pour of Turkish coffee for a perfect finish..
