Tommy’s Saloon, a longtime neighborhood bar at 2747 N. Stone Ave., will permanently close on Saturday.

The announcement came through the bar’s Facebook page on Jan. 11. The post confirmed the final week of service will run from Jan. 11 through Jan. 17. The post encouraged patrons to stop in, say goodbye, and help clear remaining inventory.

Sale rumors and final decision

In August 2025, the Facebook page emphasized that Tommy’s Saloon was for sale but not sold. The post emphasized the bar remained open and operating at that time. Despite those assurances, the business later confirmed plans to close permanently.

Founder Richard “Rick” Markham helmed Tommy’s for decades, cultivating its laid-back character. Before his death in 2014, Rick asked his niece, Lisa Markham, to keep the bar going. She quit her job as a mortgage loan officer to take the reins and preserve her uncle’s legacy.

“We aren’t fancy and we cuss a lot, but we have beautiful, outgoing bartenders and always have a good time,” she noted.
