DRINK THIS: Chiltepín Red Ale Infusion Series at Button Brew House

“Drink This” is your source for the newest and freshest local beers in town. Breaking beer news about seasonal and specialty brews, one-offs, brand-new beers, and the freshest tappings of your favorite local standbys. The beers you need now, and where to get them while they’re fresh.

On a recent visit to Button Brew House, I was pleasantly surprised to hear about their ongoing, rotating Chiltepín Red Infusion Series.  The base beer, Button’s Chiltepín Red Ale, is brewed in the tradition of an Irish red ale, but with the very Sonoran addition of chiltepín peppers and citrus zest. It’s an award-winning brew and customer favorite. With the infusion series, the beer geniuses at Button Brew House decided to give the people what they want, but dress it up in different outfits, so to speak.

On the day of my visit, I enjoyed the Chiltepín Red Ale infused with a blend of passionfruit, orange, and guava (POG).  The tropical fruits played very well with the spicy, malty ale, and I downed my beer with gusto.

The POG infusion keg ran out while I was there, so they tapped the next infusion in their lineup — The Snakebite.  Inspired by the famous Ciao Down specialty pizza of the same name, The Snakebite adds raspberry to the chiltepín backdrop — another sweet and spicy combo that tickles all the tastebuds.

Assistant brewer Joe Shope rattled off a list of past infusions, and some we can look forward to in the near future. “We’ve done a French toast version with maple syrup, a hazelnut praline infusion, a michelada, and we’ve even infused mint,” he said.

In the near future, the Button team plans to release a mango chamoy infusion, a molé inspired infusion with chocolate, and Chiltepín Red Ale aged in Whiskey del Bac barrels.  My recommendation — stop by the brewery often and always sample the infusion.  Chances are, it will be different (and delicious) every time.

Limited-time Beer Special

From now until Saturday, July 1, the brewery is offering 50% off your first 16-ounce draft pint or larger pour during your visit.

Here’s how the deal works:

  • Walk into Button Brew House’s taproom
  • Let your beertender know Tucson Foodie told you about this deal
  • Show them this article to solidify the deal
  • Gulp and enjoy your half-priced pint
  • The deal is not valid for beers labeled “no discounts”

Button Brew House is located at 6800 N. Camino Martin, Suite 160, Marana, Arizona. For more information, visit buttonbrewhouse.com.
