The fourth-annual event, which takes place from Thursday, October 10 – Saturday, October 12, has a jam-packed program with almost 50 film screenings in downtown Tucson. With three indoor and one outdoor location, you’ve got plenty to take advantage of.

In addition to the variety of films (including narrative, documentaries, and special films), look out for the special guests (including award-winning actors, directors, writers, and producers).

Why Film Fest?

The local festival brings filmmakers and our community together around a commonality — a love of storytelling and cinema. In doing so, it showcases Southern Arizona’s rich culture and heritage with a wider audience.

Double the chances: win & win

Stand a chance to win a pair of all-access passes in today’s giveaway. And the best part, we’re picking TWO WINNERS — that’s two pairs of tickets and a weekend of entertainment up for grabs!

All-access pass: what is it?

An all-access pass is your ticket to as many screenings as you can get to during the 2019 festival (and it gets you into the panels and annual Desert Pitch competition).

Whether or not you win the competition, tickets to the festival are available online. There’s also the option to attend free screenings.

Free screenings

Join our hosts, Tucson Foodie’s own Adam Lehrman and Yelp Tucson’s Isabella Joffroy for an evening of food-focused films under the stars on Friday, October 11.

“Food on Film,” a free outdoor screening event on the North Lawn of the Children’s Museum, celebrates local cuisine and global food. With three documentaries, a narrative, and Q&A with Favio Winehouse, director of El Otro Tucson, you’re in for a delicious viewing experience. Bring a chair, blanket or seat of your choice and get comfortable.

Come rain or shine… it’s showtime!

SIGN UP IN THE BAR ABOVE TO WIN

Sign up by entering your name and email address in the yellow bar across the top of your screen for a chance to win a pair of all-access tickets to Film Fest Tucson 2019. Two winners will be randomly selected from those who sign up.

The winners will be notified on Wednesday, October 2. Please check your email to see if you’ve won and respond by the end of the day on Wednesday or new winners will be selected.

@Jundynasty has served Sichuan dishes on Grant Road for 13 years.🌶️

General manager Jacob Yeung credits one idea above all: “We’ve grown since then, but the key has always been consistency.”

Stop in for Flaming Chili Oil, Walnut Shrimp, chow fun, or sautéed green beans finished with Sichuan peppercorns. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

@Lovinspoonfulstucson is closing after more than 20 years in Tucson. Its final day of service runs on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Customers can stop in between now and Saturday for one last meal. The team plans to sell down its inventory, though it hopes to have favorite dishes available. Regular hours remain 9am-3pm through the final day.

“Running this kitchen has been a labor of love, but the numbers just aren’t adding up anymore, and as parents, we have to make the hard choice to step back and take care of what matters most at home.”
