Irene’s Holy Donuts on Fourth Avenue Now Officially Open

Irene’s Holy Donuts on Fourth Avenue Now Officially Open

Mar 29, 20192 min read

Hawaii-based doughnut shop Holy Donuts (Irene’s Holy Donuts on the sign and social media) officially opened its Tucson location on Friday, March 29.

The space at 340 N. Fourth Ave. previously housed Cans Venue & Lounge, which closed after a seven-month run.

Their second location

In May 2015, wife-and-husband team Irene and Stephen Heiman opened the original Holy Donuts in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The Tucson opening is Holy Donuts’ second location.

Doughnut-themed murals line the walls of both the front room and the venue and bar space in the back. The front is bright with pendant lights and rail lights; the venue space is moody with warm rail lights and vinyl records hanging from the ceiling.

Over 200 flavors in rotation

The doughnut shop offers over 200 flavors that rotate every other day. Customers can expect sweet flavors ranging from traditional glazes to seasonal Hawaiian lilikoi (passionfruit), but savory flavors such as pepperoni pizza aren’t out of the question.

At first, the business will focus on the scratch-made doughnuts and malasadas they are already known for. Other items such as Donut SandwichesLoco MocoTeriyaki Chicken Sticks, and Spam & Eggs Musubi will hopefully be available starting Monday.

Since the other kitchen items aren’t available yet, Holy Donuts will be open daily until they sell out of doughnuts (2:58 p.m. update: they sold out after three hours; try again tomorrow at 6:30 a.m.). Operating hours are tentative; keep up with Irene’s Holy Donuts on Instagram, where they are the most active with updates.
