New westside Maru Japanese Noodle Shop offering $30 date night deal

New westside Maru Japanese Noodle Shop offering $30 date night deal

May 1, 20192 min read

There are three assumptions to be made if you’re reading this sentence: 1) you like noodles, 2) you have someone you’d like to eat noodles with, and 3) you know that $30 for two large bowls of noodles, a large sake to share, and a 22 ounce lager is a darn good deal.

Yoshimatsu partners Yoshimi Tashima and Takayuki Takagi opened Maru Japanese Noodle Shop in early 2019. Maru occupies the former San Carlos Grill at 1370 N. Silverbell, in the Albertson’s shopping center on the northeast corner of Speedway and Silverbell.

With 8 types of udon noodle bowls, 5 kinds of ramen, including a vegan option, and a variety of other Japanese dishes, such as donburi, tempura, onigiri, and more, there’s really something for everyone. Also, Maru specializes in the Japanese assari style of ramen, a broth which is made from a guarded recipe of vegetables, chicken, garlic, and ginger. It’s much gentler on the stomach. It’s also not as rich and cloudy as other styles of ramen, but you won’t need a nap afterwards, either.

Here’s what the deal includes:

  • Choice of any two noodle bowls. And yes, that includes either udon or ramen.
  • One large (22 oz.) Orion lager
  • One large Hakutsuru sake (8 oz., cold or hot)

The $30 ramen deal is really geared towards a couple, but who says you can’t bring a friend instead?  And it’s available all day every day through August. So, bring a coworker and get your day drinking on.

Maru Japanese Noodle Shop is located at 1370 N. Silverbell Rd., Ste. 180 and open daily from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. For more information, including full menu, visit marunoodle.com. Or, find Maru Noodle Shop on Instagram.

General manager Jacob Yeung credits one idea above all: “We’ve grown since then, but the key has always been consistency.”

Stop in for Flaming Chili Oil, Walnut Shrimp, chow fun, or sautéed green beans finished with Sichuan peppercorns. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

“Running this kitchen has been a labor of love, but the numbers just aren’t adding up anymore, and as parents, we have to make the hard choice to step back and take care of what matters most at home.”
