With Chocolate Iguana moving out and the temporary closure of Cafe Passe (they’re remodeling), getting a hot coffee in the morning along that strip of Fourth Avenue has become slim pickings.
However, The Jewel Cafe & Juice Bar is moving into the former Chocolate Iguana spot, filling the void at 431 N. Fourth Ave.
Owners Julia and Jonathan Russell are currently working on remodeling the space, which oughta be finished something this spring. Ideally, the pair would like the cafe to be open in time for the Fourth Avenue Street Fair in March.
In the meantime, they’re also working on the final touches of the menu which will include a full espresso bar, a diverse coffee menu, and fresh cold-pressed juices.

In other news…
Chocolate Iguana closed on Fourth Avenue but don’t consider it permanent. The shop is actually reopening on the northwest side of town on the corner of Ina Road and La Cholla Boulevard.
