If you find yourself craving barbecue, crawfish, salsa, and a little beef jerky set to musical entertainment, make your way to The Rock on November 14. It’s time for The Rock’s annual food drive and benefit concert for the Pima County Community Food Bank.

From 4 to 7pm, bring $10 to get in and purchase a plate for a pre-show barbecue and crawfish boil. If you are so inclined, bring your best salsa or beef jerky (a natural combination) for a recipe contest, accompanied by live acoustic performances from local musicians.

From 7pm “until we drop”, the main performers will take the stage. Bands include Scavenger Hill, Fire By Rank, The Sindicate, Border Town Devils, Blacklidge, and Headrust.

The concert asks for $10, or a $5 cover + 5 non-perishable food items. According to the Community Food Bank, the most needed foods include peanut butter, cereal, granola bars, as well as canned tomato products, meat, soups vegetables and fruits.

For this all ages show, extra food donations are not only welcome, but could earn you some prizes. For each food item donated, guests will receive one raffle ticket that includes signed posters from your favorite touring artists, a $75 gift certificate to Unholy Tattoo, tickets for upcoming shows, and more.

If you can’t make it Saturday, the fun continues on Sunday at 3:30 with another cook-out and concert.

All raffle proceeds, donations, and collected non-perishable food items go to benefit the Pima County Community Food Bank.

General manager Jacob Yeung credits one idea above all: “We’ve grown since then, but the key has always been consistency.”

Stop in for Flaming Chili Oil, Walnut Shrimp, chow fun, or sautéed green beans finished with Sichuan peppercorns. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

Customers can stop in between now and Saturday for one last meal. The team plans to sell down its inventory, though it hopes to have favorite dishes available. Regular hours remain 9am-3pm through the final day.

“Running this kitchen has been a labor of love, but the numbers just aren’t adding up anymore, and as parents, we have to make the hard choice to step back and take care of what matters most at home.”
