Heirloom Farmers Markets announced they’ll team up with Living Streets Alliance’s Cyclovia Tucson for the 2015 spring Viva La Local Food Festival. Held at Rillito Park, 4502 N. 1st Avenue, the collaboration aims to bring food lovers and biking enthusiasts together for a community centered weekend.
The festival takes place Saturday, April 18 from 9am to 5pm and features over 25 restaurants serving $5 food plates, a vast farmer’s market of over 80 Tucson farm and market vendors, local beer and wine tastings, and live music.
The upcoming festival will feature food vendors such as Mama Louisa’s, Queen Creek Olive Oil, Mama’s Hawaiian BBQ, Mother Hubbards, Gourmet Girls, Agustin Kitchen, Loews Ventana Canyon, JW Marriot, Café at The YWCA, Pasco Kitchen, Veg In a Box, Frankie’s South Philly Cheesesteaks, Rod’s KC BBQ, The Twisted Tandoor, Snow Peas, Pastiche, Renee’s Organic Oven and Boca. Local breweries Borderlands Brewing, Barrio Brewing, Iron John’s Brewing and Sentinel Peak will be present as beer vendors while Arizona Stronghold and Quench Distributing will offer wine. Cyclovia will take place the next day, Sunday the 19th, as thousands of Tucsonans gather for the bi-annual bike ride from Downtown to South Tucson.
The event, dubbed Tucson Tandem, is $6 for admission to the market and $5 for food and drink tastings with a free parking ticket and bike valet for those taking part in Cyclovia, while kids under 12 get in free. And if you’re out of town or can’t make it, Heirlooms Market and Cyclovia are partnering once again in the fall during the October 31st and November 1st weekend.
