Where To Eat Now With Realtor Susan Denis

For this week’s Where To Eat Now, Tucson Foodie hit up Susan Denis with Habitation Realty.

My workdays often take me to the farthest corners of Tucson. But, I’m a foodie who refuses to cave in to the drive-thru lifestyle many realtors embrace. For me, house hunting involves looking for the best of the best in terms of coffee shops, cafes, pizzerias, and more, no matter where my clients dreams may take me.

When I’m heading to the northeast side of town, I look forward to it. Since I normally eat out near where I live in Downtown Tucson, I can plan a culinary delight for each step of the way, and every part of the day – for my house hunting buyers and myself.

There’s no better road to start with than Tanque Verde. It might be the only road you need to know for deliciousness out northeast.

We start with some of the very best homemade pastries and breads in town…

Le Buzz Caffe

9121 E Tanque Verde

Almond Croissant at Le Buzz in Tucson

Although Le Buzz features muffins of the healthier variety, I have to admit, I go for the giant warm cinnamon bun with a huge breve latte. Best in the west, or Northeast, that is.

Standout items:

  • Muffins
  • Cinnamon Bun
  • Almond Croissant

Eclectic Café

E Tanque Verde & Sabino.

If you find yourself in the northeast part of Tucson for brunch or lunch, you will love the Eclectic. I literally dream about their salad The Crunch. There’s nothing else like it in Tucson. This salad of pure heaven has raw veggies and fruits with crumbles of bleu cheese. It’s so crunchy, fresh, and delicious you’ll want a second one to take home. For the less health-minded, splurge on the rich and delicious Chicken Crepes.

Standout items:

  • The Crunch Salad
  • Chilaquiles

Renee’s Organic Oven

Renee’s is a great casual spot for dinner and a glass of red wine. It’s in the same shopping center as the Eclectic Café. With a wonderful ambience, organic ingredients, and even an optional gluten free pizza crust, you’ll love this spot. Start with the homemade Spinach Artichoke Dip or the Spinach Salad. There’s a sweet little wine list that won’t disappoint, either. The pizza is to die for. Try one of my favorites, the Shroomy Goat which features a local goat cheese option from Fiore di Capra.

Standout items:

  • Spinach Artichoke Dip
  • Shroomy Goat Pizza

Frost Gelato

If you have room for the tiniest sweet Frost Gelato is a great northeast option. I usually ask for the tiniest size they offer, but beg for two tastes in one cup… limoncello with a side of darkest chocolate. Your tastebuds will be satiated and happy with you, after your northeast culinary adventures!

Standout items:

  • Limoncello
  • Dark chocolate

@Jundynasty has served Sichuan dishes on Grant Road for 13 years.🌶️

General manager Jacob Yeung credits one idea above all: “We’ve grown since then, but the key has always been consistency.”

Stop in for Flaming Chili Oil, Walnut Shrimp, chow fun, or sautéed green beans finished with Sichuan peppercorns. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

@Lovinspoonfulstucson is closing after more than 20 years in Tucson. Its final day of service runs on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Customers can stop in between now and Saturday for one last meal. The team plans to sell down its inventory, though it hopes to have favorite dishes available. Regular hours remain 9am-3pm through the final day.

“Running this kitchen has been a labor of love, but the numbers just aren’t adding up anymore, and as parents, we have to make the hard choice to step back and take care of what matters most at home.”
