Famous foodie and mad kitchen scientist Alton Brown stopped by the Old Pueblo Sunday, March 22 for his Edible Inevitable Tour.
Prior to his show Sunday night at Centennial Hall, the city was abuzz with sightings of Brown popping into local food establishments.
The standout of Alton’s stops, according to a tweet, was Tucson Tamale. Mr. Brown ordered himself a Sante Fe Tamale, Chili Relleno Tamale with sides.
We spoke with Tucson Tamale owner Todd Martin who said that Alton stopped in for 5 minutes, snapped a selfie with the two, and Todd’s wife, Sherry, and got his food to go.
Apparently, those 5 minutes had an impact. Following his quick visit to Tucson Tamale, this tweet, which has now been retweeted almost 100 times was sent out:
Best bite of the day (maybe even week) goes to @tucsontamale. I didn’t order enough. #ABRoadEatsTucson pic.twitter.com/TplIQsMPCJ

Tucson Foodie recently spoke with Todd Martin about his close encounter with Brown. “It was obviously and certainly an honor to have someone like Alton Brown say something like that about our food,” said Martin. “I think both for Tucson Tamale and for Tucson, as a whole.”
We couldn’t agree more.
Brown also visited El Guero Canelo for Sonoran dogs, Eegees for frozen fruit treats, Just Churros cart, and Cartel Coffee Lab. An attempt was made to visit Prep & Pastry, but apparently an insurmountable wait time forced him and his crew elsewhere.
Below are a couple of additional tweets from Alton’s Tucson visit:
Finally … a restaurant that speaks my language. Thanks for feeding my crew dinner, @tucsontamale. pic.twitter.com/7MzL2Fom5K — Alton Brown (@altonbrown) March 23, 2015
