Tucson has been nearly overrun with barbecue competitions this year, but none quite like this.
Buckelew Farms is hosting the first ever horror-themed barbecue showdown, Zom-B-Q, on Saturday, October 17, as part of their annual Terror in the Corn spectacle.
Tucson pit masters will battle for the one-of-a-kind Zom-B-Q Trophy, awarded to the scariest, most savory pork dish. Their creativity will be challenged with a second, optional event – creating the most imaginative dessert using fresh Buckelew Farm pumpkins.
Guests will be given a voting sheet to pick their favorite and judging will be based on creativity and overall flavor in the categories of taste, texture and theme. As for the best pumpkin dessert, guest judge and local musician Drew Cooper will determine the winner.
Doors open at 6pm and all winners will be announced at 7:30pm. Live music entertainment will be provided by Drew Cooper, beer provided by Budweiser, and more Halloween festivities will take place all-day at Buckelew Farms.
Each ticket gets you a sample of BBQ from each vendor, one (1) beer, wine or soda of your choice, an entry into prize drawings, a vote for “Peoples’ Choice” and some extra surprises, as well as access to the Buckelew Farm Pumpkin Festival, the KidZone and more. The Pumpkin Patch and KidZone close at 6pm, so arrive early to take part.
Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door. Kids under 5 get in for free.
