The old idiom “your eyes are bigger than your stomach” has never been so relevant.

In the last few years, the food photo trend has grown so rapidly on social media that a few restaurants banned smartphone photography, while others brought in special plates to help you optimize your next brunch snap.

Lucky for us, Tucson has its very own crowd of social food photographers and home cooks capturing every corner of the food scene on Instagram. Below are several Tucson Instagram accounts to ease you in.

520eats is “a product of Friday night happy hour. Four guys sitting around a table, talking about food.” A liquor distributor, a food snob, a cook and a bartender created the site as a resource for industry professionals and Tucson food lovers to join the conversation about the growing food scene.

Eric’s Instagram bio reads “Hockey flyers arizona tucson guitar food.” Though food comes last in the list, it’s certainly highlighted on his account. Oh, and we’ll take some of these fish tacos from the Westin La Paloma if you’re offering.

Okay, Jackie has a bit of an advantage being a professional food photographer. After all, she only shoots for little companies like The Food Network and Refinery29. Needless to say, we are lucky to have her here in Tucson.

If there is one thing that is clear from Jason Wong’s account, it’s that he likes to eat, and he’s certainly open-minded about it. His snaps range from Jimmy John’s to hole-in-the-wall classics to unique combinations like Wasabi Lays crumbled over store bought sushi. (Extra props for the Lucky Wishbone pic.)
