Construction Woes Send Struggling Meet Rack To Facebook For Help

Although Tucson businesses no longer need to worry about a desolate summer, construction is still a significant obstacle.

The Meet Rack, the raunchy dive bar at 210 W. Drachman St., has been run by Jim “God” Anderson for 19 years. He expressed the following on The Meet Rack’s Facebook page last Friday morning on November 25:

Has your life been ruined by God? Do you have any stories that begin with, “One time at the Meet Rack?” Do you have a brand, or two, or three, or four? Have you ever hooked up at the bar, or perhaps seen something you wish you hadn’t? Now is the time to show your appreciation. The construction in the area has made keeping our doors open for you difficult. We want to be here as long as we can. So we’re not asking for much. If you feel like you owe anything to the bar, come in, have a drink and share your story. Show your friends around. Please like and share this post. We’ll see you at the bar,
Way to be.

The post has reached 95 shares so far, but business hasn’t reached the level it should be this time of year.

“It’s unbelievable what they’ve done with the street,” Anderson said. “It’s taken over three months so far. In Japan, there was a sinkhole 30 meters deep and it took them less than three days to fix it.”

The Meet Rack has gained notoriety and adoration over the years for various reasons. Anderson, who goes by the nickname God, offers a lifelong drink discount, which varies from drink to drink, if you allow him to brand you with his hot branding iron that resembles his face.

A tour of the bar includes a peek into the “sex room,” which is packed with promiscuous props. When a condom is purchased in the women’s restroom, an alarm is triggered upon leaving the restroom.

If these shenanigans are your cup of tea, now’s the time to check out this Tucson institution.

The Meet Rack is located at 210 W. Drachman St. Keep up with The Meet Rack on Facebook.
