America’s very first Public Enemy Number One, John Dillinger, was captured as the result of his gang leaving behind luggage in a fire at Hotel Congress on January 21, 1934.
In honor of the capture, Hotel Congress is hosting its annual Dillinger Day’s Speakeasy 7 – 10 p.m. on Friday, January 20.
While the whole weekend is dedicated to Dillinger events, the Speakeasy will feature 1930s-style fun with a whiskey tasting, themed appetizers, live music, premium cigars, and a live gun show.
Additionally, Hotel Congress will release 1919, their private barrel of Whiskey Del Bac from Hamilton Distillers, in honor of their upcoming 100-year anniversary. The 120 proof whiskey features flavors of cereal grain and caramel, finishing with a bright pop of pink peppercorn on the palate
Proceeds will go to the Greater Tucson Fire Foundation, a non-profit organization which assists the fire-service community with advanced training, technology, survivor’s help, education campaigns, firefighter health and wellness, and other support services.
Tickets are $30 per person and sell out regularly, so act soon.
